About Me

Sonia Nyawira Muriu is a Kenyan illustrator based in Nairobi. In June of 2023, Sonia graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours in Illustration. 

 

Sonia has always been a creative and artistic person, pursuing Art and Design during both her IGCSEs and A-levels. In her A-levels, she explored the work of Impressionists and Post-Impressionists, her favorite being Paul Cezanne. This period in art introduced her to oil painting, which she immediately latched onto and became the forefront of her creative expression.

 

Sonia now works entirely digitally, creating intricate illustrations with bold and harmonious color palettes, gradients, and colored line art. Sonia is interested in working within the editorial, advertising, and surface design markets of illustration, as well as in brand and packaging design.
